What's on my heart

I'm fairly certain that no one besides my mom and sister really read this blog. But if anyone else reads this...please, please offer your opinion or advice.

So Rayce and I have been in a relationship for over a year now...we live together, shit's serious. I can't imagine my life without him in it. I love him so much sometimes it hurts. Our relationship is honestly almost perfect. I don't need to go into detail about why I love us and our relationship because I could be here all day. We only have one issue...and it's a HUGE one.

We live here:

And I absolutely hate it. I want to live here:

Rayce doesn't. You see the problem...

The biggest reason I want to move back to NC is because my mom and my sister live there...and I'm super close with both of them. But...Rayce's family lives here in Iowa and he's super close with them. Big problem.

My other reasons for wanting to move there are that there is seriously nothing to do in Iowa. All we ever do with friends is go to the same townie bars and drink. And I don't even really drink much so I'm always the mostly sober person dealing with all the obnoxious drunk people...not fun. In NC there is SO much to do! Raleigh has so many good restaurants, parks, museums, lakes, hiking trails...I'M SO BORED HERE! I'm seriously going nuts I swear.

Another reason, I love the beach. Like really love it. Raleigh (where we would most likely live) is 2 hours from the ocean and 2 hours from the mountains. PERFECTION!

Another reason...jobs. There are no good jobs here, not joking. I've looked. Raleigh is obviously way bigger so there are many many more jobs. I've looked.

Another reason...the weather. I HATE WINTER! Always have, always will. Snow and ice...no thank you. NC has damn near perfect weather. Sure, it's f'ing hot in the summer which I don't love. But for 9 months out of the year, it's beautiful. Iowa...not so much. Feels like winter last foreverrrrr.

So there's that. My reasons.

Rayce has told me that he would {probably} be willing to move there for a year but that he knows he'll want to move back to Iowa. Even if he loves it there. He does not want to live away from his family, which I get. I don't either...but I am. And I can't handle it. So say we move there...a year later he wants to move back to Iowa...I don't. What would happen then? I'm not going to want to leave NC.

This probably isn't even making sense.

Basically Rayce wants to stay in Iowa because his family and friends are here. I want to move to NC because my family is there (amoung other reasons). WHAT THE FUCK TO WE DO?! Basically one of us is going to be unhappy. Or we break up. Which breaks my heart just thinking about.

Do I stay in Iowa and hate everything except being with him? Or do I move to NC (without him?) and love everything except being without him?

Some people have told me to just go and if he loves me he'll come. Well that would be nice, but that's not fair because then if I love him, wouldn't I stay? I don't know...any help would be appreciated.

Valentine's link up!

In honor of this love day I'm linking up with Hallie at Life: Oceanside to tell you about Rayce and I!

The questions:

1.) How did you meet your significant other?

So our town has a thing called Octoberfest...it's just a street festival type thing. I was with my friend Emilie...he was with his friend Brock. Emilie knew both Brock and Rayce from riding the bus so we all met up that night. Rayce says we first met outside a church but I don't remember this part ha. All I remember was the four of us sitting in a booth at Hardees. Then when I got to high school the next year we had spanish and gym/study hall together.

Us in high school

2.) What/where was your first date?

We didn't really have one. I was visiting Iowa for Christmas when I lived in NC and I ended up spending the entire time with Rayce. We went on a party bus, to a New Years party, and to visit my friend and her family for a weekend, along with other random stuff.

3.) What's your best relationship advice?

Don't be selfish or disrespectful. Rayce and I were just talking about this the other night. I asked him if he thought it was weird how we don't fight because it seems like many of the couples we know fight all the time. He made the point that a big reason people fight is because someone is being selfish. You need to be able to comprimise and not always thinking about yourself. It's not all about you!

4.) What is your most embarrassing moment in front of your SO?
I can't think of one! I mean...I've known him forever and we were friends forever so he's always known that I'm silly and weird. He gets it. And he loves it! I don't really get embarrased with him...unless I let out a giant fart or something. Then I probably would be. (Hasn't happened yet!)

5.) What most attracts you to your SO?

He's just so good. That sounds dumb but it's true. He's just so damn good to me. One really big thing for me is that he doesn't ever put me down or disrespect me. My dad was disrespectful to my mom which always made me so angry. Guys I dated before Rayce were disrespectful to me...I've just seen it too much. It's not ok! My ex boyfriend actually threw all my cd's out the window of my car once because he didn't like my music. I KNOW!!! The entire time I've known Rayce (10+ years) he hasn't been rude or disrespectful to me one time. He's just a very very good, genuine person.

Mmmm that scruff. I love it!

6.) If a movie was made about your SO, what actor/superhero would play their part?
I honestly have no idea. I'll go with Patrick Dempsey because he's sexy and a race car driver. Rayce is sexy and loves cars...close enough?

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

1) What was your first car?

2000 Ford Taurus...I LOVED that car! I loved even more that I didn't have to buy it. It was my dad's work car for a couple years but when he got a new one he passed it down to me!

I had it from the time I started driving at like 15 until I was a senior in college. It had over 200,000 miles on it and my dad thought it would be safer for me to drive to North Carolina in my sister's old Chevy Cavelier (that I hated). So that was the end of Terese the Taurus. Sad face. My dad sold it for like $500. Great car...I never had any problems with it!

2) Who was your favorite childhood teacher?
Mr. Steines my 8th grade science and gym teacher and basketball coach. Pretty sure he was everyone's favorite teacher because he was young and cool and all the girls had a crush on him.

Our team circa 2001-2002
He was just a really good teacher in that he knew how to make shit fun, unlike all the other teachers. I also loved having him as my coach. He pushed me and made me work hard and made me a better player.

3) Were you involved in any sports/extracurricular activities?
When I was really little I played soccer and t-ball/softball. Not such a fan. In middle school is when I really started getting into and loving sports.

I started basketball in 4th grade
Then up until high school I played basketball, softball, volleyball, and track. I was decent at all of them but basketball was my sport for sure.
My dad and I when he was my basketball coach

7th or 8th grade volleyball...I'm the awkwardly tall one

Other than sports I also did band...I played the trombone. Yes, I'm serious.

4) What was your favorite birthday party?
I honestly don't really remember any of my birthay parties...sad.

5) Who was your favorite celebrity crush?
Wow. I had a TON! I was so boy crazy. To name a few...

Andrew Keegan...duh.

Nick Carter. I was a Backstreet Boys fan through and through, but Nick was my favorite. My sister and I had countless posters of them hanging all over our walls. We also had BSB pens, notebooks, videos...man we were obsessed.

Hanson...still love Mmmmbop. Such a good tune.

Casper the ghost. Devin something? I dunno. I liked him.

Dream Street. The boyband that never really got famous.

JTT. Who didn't have a crush on him?

6) What show/move did your parents not allow you to watch?
We never had cable or anything so we didn't have very many tv options. The two that stick out in my head are...

The Simpsons

Maury...You ARE the father!!
