Dear Miranda,
I loved our talk today. I wish it could still be like college where I saw you almost everyday and we could hang out whenever we wanted. But life happened and I miss you and Kenzie Jo soooo much! Hopefully Rayce and I can tailgate with you guys soon!

Dear Kenzie Jo,
Can you go back to being this size please?

Dear monster zit on my chin,
You are so not necessary. Get lost.

Hope everyone has a wonderful 3 day weekend!

Random thought...or something

How do you be completely happy when important parts of your life are not how you want them to be?

This is the question of the day for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy!! Very happy. I have the best family I could ask for and Rayce treats me like a queen. I'm healthy and have a job (or 4). Our bills get paid and there is food on our table. Except we don't even have a table...but you get what I mean. Being a social worker, I see how bad it can get. I see homelessness, drug addictions, neglected children...and I know how blessed I am and what a wonderful life I have. But I want more. Is that selfish or wrong of me? I'm sure it is. But it's the truth.

What I want most is to move back to North Carolina and live near my mom and my sister (and the ocean!) I want to only have to have one job and love it, not just deal with it because it pays me. I want to have the perfect body and not have to work for it. I want more friends. I feel like the friends I have are all drifting away from me and/or live too far away. I want to be financially stable to where we can buy a house and pay for a wedding (in a few years).

Am I the only one that feels like this? Am I a terrible person?

On a lighter note...here is a very inappropriate but hilarious clip from the movie Wanderlust...Paul Rudd is the bomb.com. Sorry if this offends anyone but I think it's pretty damn funny!

Fun link up!

His&Her Q&A #5

What is something weird your spouse does while asleep?
His: Steals the covers from me and throws them on the floor...
Her: You don't really do anything weird in your sleep. You're a normal sleeper!

Which of the 7 deadly sins are you? (anger, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony)
His: Envy...I want other peoples' cars
Her: I'm envy too...I don't like being envious but I can't deny that I am!

What was your favorite hiding place as a kid?
His: I don't think I had a hiding place...I think I just took off on my bicycle
Her: I didn't have a hiding place but my sister and I had places we would hang out. We'd hang out in the crawlspace off of our staircase and in a certain apple tree in the yard a lot.

What music artist do you love that your other half hates listening to?
His: Harry Chapin
Her: Old Crow Medicine Show and Mumford and Sons

What has your other half recently done that made you love them more?
His: Brought me steak home from work
Her: When you came into F21 when I was getting ready to check out and made me take your money to buy the shirt and necklace I was getting.

What is your favorite hole-in-the-wall place to eat? (or favorite restaurant in general)
His: TC's
Her: Not sure I have a favorite...one that just came to mind is the Boardwalk Deli

What do you admire most about your significant other?
His: The ability to save money
Her: That's boring...Umm. That you always stay positive when I'm in a negative/worry wart mood or having a pity party for myself

Ideally, where would you like to be 5 years from now?
His: In my own house!
Her: Agreed. Also married (cough cough) :) And in North Carolina (cough cough)

Who wears the pants?
His: You.
Her: Only because you're so laid back. I don't like wearing the pants usually! But someone's got to be the voice of reason :)

What is your favorite/go-to YouTube video? (embed for all of us to watch!)
  His : Icon Drift 2
Hers: I have a couple lots of favorites...here's two!

Friday letters

Thank God it's Friday...seeeriously. This week has been frustrating and stressful for me and I'm so looking forward to the weekend (even if I'm babysitting my cousin's kids tonight and bartending on Sunday). Mr. and I are planning on going to Des Moines Saturday and getting a hotel. There has been talk of hot tubbing and getting a wee bit sloshed. Long overdue if you ask me!

Dear Friday,
I've missed you so much the past 6 days! Thank you for always finding your way back to me.

Dear clients,
 Please open up to me!

Dear boyfriend,
Thank you for always reminding me not to stress out. You are so good at calming me down when I feel like I'm going to cry/scream/freak out! I don't know what I would do without you.

Dear commenters,
Thank you! I get so excited when someone comments on something I wrote. Even though I have no followers, I'm glad a few people have read my blog.

Dear Target,
Lucky you...you're going to be getting lots of my money this weekend.

Today one of my co-workers asked another older co-worker if she farts in front of her husband. She replied with a "no, not even after 40 years." I then asked the first co-worker (who is in her mid-twenties) if she farts in front of her husband and she said that she does. Is it a generational thing?? Do older people not fart in front of their spouses and younger people do?? Do you all fart in front of your significant others?!

7 questions

1. Bold or Understated?
Understated. I would like to be bold but it's just not me. I loooove crazy fashion styles but I could never pull them off. I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal.

2. You have to survive alone in the wild and you only get to take one thing with you. Your choices are: A Pocket Knife, a Water Bottle, or a Book. Which do you choose and why?

Pocket knife. They have so many purposes! I can't read a book more than once so that wouldn't do me much good and there's other sources of water!

3. Thirty Two Cows, Seven Eight Chickens, How Many Didn't?

32-7=25

4. Would you rather die doing one legendary act of service or do small acts of kindness that may go unnoticed every day?

Small acts of kindness. You can help more people that way.

5. Happiness is ________. (one word; fill in the blank)

Family

6. Can you laugh with out smiling?

Not a real laugh. Just a really fake/creepy one. Real laughter requires a smile!

7. Do you pop your knuckles?

Yes...bad habit! I also crack my neck and back...it's gross.

Weekend recap

Happy Monday!

Guess who I got to meet see this past weekend?!?!

This guy! That's right, Patrick Dempsey/Dr. McDreamy. And oh mylanta is he dreamy. I thought he was good looking on TV but holy shit is he beautiful in person. Turns out he's a race car driver...who knew! I felt like a huge creep because I was standing 2 feet in front of him and I just held my camera out and snapped pictures. Apparently being in the presence of such a gorgeous human makes me not be able to put complete sentences together. All I could muster out was a lame "thank" as he handed me his autographed poster. I should have said something like "You are effing beautiful" or "Can I have your babies?" but I suppose he gets things like that all the time. PS- he got 2nd place in his series in the American Le Mans race we were at...in case you were wondering.

Here he is in his racing gear...anyone else drooling?
Dempsey's car

It was a pretty fun weekend. If you're into cars (or your boyfriend and his family are reeeally into cars) I was mostly just along for the ride. I'm trying to learn but there is just so much information. So many makes and models...v8's and v6's...turbocharged and supercharged. I feel like there is no way I'll ever learn even half the stuff Rayce tries to teach me. Pretty much the only cars I can point out myself are corvettes and Porsches. Speaking of corvettes...

Me and my daddy. He and my Uncle Dave go to the American Le Mans race here:

This $250,000 Ferrari belonged to a highschooler...

This is my favorite car...BMW Z4. If anyone wants to buy me one that'd be great. Thanks.

Yep, that's my ass after sitting in chocolate for about an hour.

Don't you just wanna snuggle him? I do.

7 questions

Bach to school edition!

1. It's back to school time! Are YOU going back to school?
Nope, I may someday though. In my field (social work) it's a really good idea to have a Master's degree. So maybe someday I'll have another first day of school.

2. Speaking of back to school... You receive 10 pts if you can name this movie:
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms."
Honestly, I had no idea. I just saw other peoples' answers so I'd be cheating if I put the answer down!

3. Who did you hang out with in school? Cool kids, jocks, nerds, were you a loner, etc? (all are welcome here- btw)

I was a social butterfly for sure. I got along with everyone, even the "dirties." ha I used to get so mad when people would talk shit about people they didn't even know. Almost everyone in my class was super nice but a lot of people didn't give anyone outside their "group" a chance. I made all the friends I could in high school. Loved it.

4. What was your favorite subject in school?
Study hall? Ha no. Umm...psychology and sociology. Took more of those classes in college. Very fascinating to me.

5. (I've asked this question before, but it was a while ago) If you had to go back and redo one of the following, which would you choose and why? Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School, College?
I would redo high school and I would have played basketball. I was really good at basketball but decided not to play in high school mostly because I was lazy and also because I was too wrapped up in my boyfriend at the time. I would have also done my relationships differently...like not spending ALL my time with boyfriends that didn't even go to my school (I know, Mom...should have listened). I didn't even go to my junior prom because my very controlling boyfriend said he would break up with me if I went...yeah, lame. Not playing basketball in high school is my only regret.

6. Home/ Packed Lunch or School Lunch?
School lunch. My elementary/middle school lunches were homemade by little old ladies every day and were delicious! Can't complain about lunch in high school either...crispitos were my favorite! And chicken patty on a school made bun and mashed potatoes!

7. What's more exciting? The first day of school or the last day of school?
The last day, for sure. Pretty sure I started countdowns like halfway through the year.

Me and Rayce in high school...I don't think we look that different now!

Dedicated to my valentine

This is Madison...I call her Maddie or Valentine. Isn't she gorgeous?!

She's having minor surgery tomorrow and has been on my mind a lot lately. Mostly because I just miss her so much.
This is the front of the card I sent to her yesterday. It is so true for me. Maddie is hands down, top 3 funniest people I've ever met in my whole life. She was also the best roommate I've ever had in my whole life. Maddie was one of my 3 roommates my Sophomore year of college.

Notice how I'm laughing in almost all of these pictures. She pretty much kept me laughing for a year straight. Never a dull moment with this one! We spent a lot of time sitting on one of our beds watching youtube videos like this:
And this:
And this:
Since Maddie moved out of our apartment we have stayed very close. I was her personal attendant at her beautiful wedding this past June and we talk regularly, even though we live 2 hours away from each other.
Maddie and her awesome husband, Nick

Basically, Madison Jeanette aka my valentine is one of the best people to ever come into my life and one of my very best friends. My life would not be the same without her in it. We clicked right away when we met (I didn't know her when she moved in with me) and we were inseperable while we lived together. She has (and continues to help) helped me through a lot of hard times in my life and has been there for all the wonderful times as well. Friendships like this don't come around often and I feel very lucky to have the relationship that I have with Maddie. Love her to death!

Sunday adventures

Happy Sunday!

Rayce and I just got home from a long day of good clean fun. First we headed here...
and went here

I'm not a huge museum person, but it was fun! They had lots of underwater exhibits, which are my favorite. I used to want to be a marine biologist, but then realized I don't really like science that much ha.

Octapus!

I loved this guy's smile!

 Horseshoe crab

GIANT catfish!

Me with Mark Twain

After the museum we went to eat at this little bar/restaurant called Lot One for lunch. It was a really cute little bar and the food was amazing! After lunch we headed to Galena, Illinois. Galena has a really good downtown area with tons and tons of little shops. It was a really fun day!

Last night we went over to my cousin Sarah's house and had dinner with her, her husband Tom, and their kids Ella, Luke, and Leo. We snapped these before we went. And no, we did not match on purpose!

My favorite :)

Have a good week! (Even though I'm pretty sure no one will end up reading this haha)
